Draycote Water

Draycote Water has a lot to offer the outdoor enthusiast. First of all the reservoir. Draycote is a world-class sailing center, though you don’t have to be a world class sailor to join the club. Whether you are a diehard racer or someone who prefers to simply float along in you dinghy, all are welcome. For the brave at heart, they also offer windsurfing.

If you like the water but prefer to keep both feet on dry land, you can get a fishing permit from the Fishing Lodge and maybe catch something for tea. If you would rather try something a little more active, try walking, cycling, running or roller-blading your way all the way round the 5 mile perimeter. I promise you, this is more of a challenge than you realise but the views are worth it. There is also plenty of bird life for the avid birdwatcher.

Draycote is a great family place and there is plenty to do if you want to make a whole day of it. Aside from the water, there are plenty of fields so kids can bring their footballs, kites or other games and play for hours and hours. You can pack a picnic or have a bite to eat in the restaurant at the Visitor Centre, maybe sit on the outdoor café patio and watch the world go by. Following your meal, check out the gift shop, which features many local arts and crafts. The friendly staff will also tell you all about the various events happening at Draycote throughout the year and help you with any information you may need.

Open 7.30am –8pm, Draycote Water is open every day except Christmas Day and the facilities are also available for private hire. Call the information hotline on 08701 791 111 for more information.
